MARIA CONCEPCION NISTAL FERNANDEZ

Maria Concepción Nistal Fernández is a Professor in the Department of Applied Physics at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), affiliated with the Faculty of Physics. She holds a doctorate from USC, awarded in 1994 for her thesis on Geometric phases in electromagnetic coupling processes, supervised by Dr. Daniel Baldomir Fernández and Dr. Jesús Liñares Beiras. She is part of the Strategic Grouping in Materials (AEMAT) and leads the Quantum Materials and Photonics Group (QMatterPhotonics), focusing on optics and quantum materials.

Her research expertise spans geometric phases in electromagnetic systems, quantum photonics, and advanced materials science. Her work integrates theoretical and applied physics to explore novel optical phenomena and material properties. She collaborates within interdisciplinary teams through the AEMAT grouping, contributing to cutting-edge materials research.
