معرفی
M. Wessels is a Research Fellow in the Department of Biomechanical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering Technology, University of Twente, affiliated with the Biomechatronics and Rehabilitation Technology group and the TechMed Centre.
His educational background includes:
- Master of Mechanical Engineering (2006) from the University of Twente, specializing in rehabilitation robotics with research on passive versus active learning in novel visuomotor tasks.
- PhD in Biomechanical Engineering (2012) from the University of Twente, developing an innovative flexible spinal implant system for scoliosis correction that prevents vertebral fusion.
Dr. Wessels' research integrates biomechatronics and robotics for rehabilitation, particularly targeting upper-extremity applications. He contributes to the Twente Robotics Programme, which expands robotics from industrial to consumer/service sectors. His expertise spans spinal biomechanics, control theory, and human-machine interaction, with practical focus on vertebra torsion, growth, and implant design.
Current projects involve designing and implementing robotic systems for rehabilitation therapy, leveraging his dual background in mechanical engineering and clinical biomechanics to advance non-invasive spinal correction methodologies.
