Bart F.J.M. Koopman is a Professor at the Faculty of Engineering Technology and a member of the TechMed Centre at the University of Twente. His research focuses on biomechanical engineering, orthopedic surgery, and rehabilitation robotics. He has contributed extensively to musculoskeletal systems analysis and medical device development.
Key research interests include wearable technologies for post-stroke rehabilitation, biomechanical modeling of joints, and improving surgical outcomes for total knee arthroplasty. His work addresses osteophyte effects and functional reconstruction in orthopedic procedures.
Recent publications highlight advancements in sensor-driven digital twins for gait analysis and quantitative musculoskeletal assessment. His work has been recognized with the ISTA Award 2023.
