M. Ali Choudhary

Professor M. Ali Choudhary serves as Professor of Economics and Public Policy and Head of the Economics academic group at Loughborough University, bringing 15 years of experience as Chief Economist and Research Advisor at the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) with expertise in managerial leadership, international research collaborations, and policy negotiation.

His academic credentials include:

• BA Hons in Economics with Politics and Languages (first-class) from Kingston University, London (1996), awarded the Jonathan Crompton Memorial Prize for distinction in spoken French
• MSc in Macroeconomics from Birkbeck College, University of London (1997)
• PhD in Macroeconomics from Birkbeck College, University of London (2001)

His research spans Macroeconomics, Applied Econometrics, Development Finance, and Economics of Management, evidenced by publications in top journals including the Review of Economic Studies, Journal of Banking and Finance, and Journal of Development Economics.
