Dr. M Akshir Ab Kadir is a Senior Lecturer and Education Programme Coordinator at James Cook University's Singapore campus. With over 20 years of experience, he has held diverse roles including editor, classroom teacher, deputy director of an educational consultancy, and teacher educator at an Australian university. His expertise spans curriculum design, pedagogy, assessment, educational policy, and critical thinking development.
He holds a PhD in Education from the University of Melbourne (2007–2010), a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from Nanyang Technological University (2002–2003), a Master of Arts in English Studies from the National University of Singapore (1999–2001), and a Bachelor of Arts and Social Sciences from the same institution (1995–1998).
Dr. Kadir’s research focuses on fostering critical thinking and creativity in education, particularly within the context of Singaporean and Australian systems. He explores intersections between policy, practice, and professional learning, emphasizing the need for pedagogical congruence and assessment-as-learning frameworks.
