M'Lyn Spinks is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Nursing at Berry College, where she teaches at the junior and senior levels and contributes to simulation-based education. She holds a D.N.S. from Kennesaw State University, an M.N. in Nursing Education from the University of West Georgia, and a B.S. in Nursing from Georgia State University.
Her research focuses on nursing leadership, accessible education, and the integration of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) in healthcare simulation. She has extensive clinical experience in adult primary care, pediatric and neonatal ICU, and care for technology-dependent children and families.
Dr. Spinks' recent publications highlight challenges in higher education during the pandemic, including emergency remote teaching ("panicgogy"), academic honesty, and equity in simulation education. Her work bridges clinical expertise with pedagogical innovation in nursing.
She is actively engaged in professional service as a charter member of the INACSL IncluDE Committee, a member of the INACSL Research Committee, and a reviewer for INACSL conference submissions. She also serves on community and professional nursing boards.
Her affiliations include Sigma Theta Tau, Phi Kappa Phi, and the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL), reflecting her commitment to nursing excellence and educational equity.
