M'Lisa Shelden is a Clinical Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Physical Therapy at Wichita State University's College of Health Professions. With over 40 years of expertise in developmental disabilities, school-based services, and early intervention, she has held leadership roles such as Director of the Family, Infant and Preschool Program (FIPP) in North Carolina (2002-2018) and Assistant Professor of Research at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (1990-2002). She is a licensed physical therapist in Kansas and a former Certified Pediatric Clinical Specialist.
Education includes degrees in physical therapy and early childhood special education from the University of Oklahoma. Her research focuses on early childhood interventions and pediatric therapy practices. She contributed to revising the International Division of Early Childhood Recommended Practices as the teaming strand chair.
Awards include the prestigious Mary E. Switzer Merit Fellowship and recognition from ZERO TO THREE. Her service includes roles in the Academy of Pediatric Physical Therapy and leadership in early childhood policy development.
