Professor Lynore Geia is a Bwgcolman woman and Professor at the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Edith Cowan University (ECU). Her career spans 4 decades as a registered nurse and midwife, deeply rooted in advocating for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health equity. She holds a PhD from James Cook University (2012).
Her research focuses on dismantling systemic barriers in healthcare through cultural safety initiatives, community-controlled processes, and reforming nursing/midwifery education. Key projects include analyzing custodial deaths of Indigenous Australians (AHPRA grant, 2023–2024) and leading the 'Black Lives Matter' nursing reform paper (2020).
