Lynne Trulio is Professor and Department Chair of Environmental Studies at San José State University, where she has taught since 1991. She specializes in environmental restoration, wildlife ecology, and habitat conservation, with particular focus on species recovery in disturbed ecosystems. Her research examines human impacts on vulnerable species including western burrowing owls and tidal marsh ecosystems.
Dr. Trulio teaches courses spanning Introduction to Environmental Studies, Environmental Restoration, and graduate seminars in research methods. She served as Interim Associate Dean for the College of Social Sciences (2014-2016) and was Lead Scientist for the South Bay Salt Pond Restoration Project (2003-2008).
Her publications demonstrate strong focus on:
- Wildlife behavioral responses to anthropogenic disturbances
- Conservation strategies for threatened bird species
- Ecological restoration of degraded habitats
Awards include:
- AAAS Environmental and Engineering Fellowship (1999-2000)
She has chaired numerous graduate committees and advises the student-run Environmental Resource Center promoting campus sustainability initiatives.
