Lynne Perkins Socey is a Professor of Theatre Arts at Earlham College, located in Richmond, Indiana. With nearly 30 years of professional experience, she has worked as an actor, director, casting director, and producer for organizations including the Indiana Repertory Theatre, Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre, and the Human Race Theatre Company. She served as Artistic Director of Picture This and led projects with Bridgework Touring Theatre, focusing on new play development. Her work extends to educational initiatives through theatre camps and collaborations with Young Audiences of Indiana.
Education:
- M.F.A. in Theatre Arts, Florida State University
- B.A. in Theatre Arts, Indiana University
Her research emphasizes Theatre for Change, using performance to address social issues like sustainability and human rights. Collaborative student projects include lobby exhibits for Speak Truth to Power and environmental theatre pieces. She also pioneered Shakespeare-based workshops for K-12 students during Earlham’s May Term programs.
Professional affiliations include Actors’ Equity Association and the Richmond Shakespeare Festival. She advocates for Earlham’s Principles & Practices, emphasizing communication and community in liberal arts education.
