Lynn Rother

Prof. Dr. Lynn Rother is the Lichtenberg Professor for Provenance Studies and Director of the Provenance Lab at Leuphana University, with a concurrent appointment as Adjunct Curator for Provenance at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. She holds a Master's degree in art history, economics, and law from the University of Leipzig (2008) and a PhD in art history from the Technical University of Berlin (2015).

Her research examines:

• Provenance of cultural objects
• Digital transformation of museums
• Historical economics of art markets
• Computational methods in cultural heritage

She leads several major projects including Modern Migrants: Paintings from Europe in US Museums (2019-2027) and PAESE 3.0 (2024-2028).

Awards include:

• Humanities International Prize (2018)
• Getty Research Fellowship (2014)
• ZADIK Board of Trustees appointment (2021)

She serves on advisory boards for NFDI4Objects, Getty Provenance Index, and the German Lost Art Foundation.
