Lynn Pillitteri is a Professor and Chair in the Biology Department at Western Washington University (WWU), part of the College of Science and Engineering. She holds a Ph.D. in Plant Genetics from the University of California, Riverside (2002), an M.S. in Plant Biology (1997), and a B.S. in Biology (1993) from SUNY Binghamton. Her research focuses on plant developmental processes, particularly the molecular mechanisms underlying cell division, differentiation, and stomatal formation in Arabidopsis thaliana. She employs molecular biology, microscopy, and genetic tools to study transcriptional regulation and developmental pathways.
Dr. Pillitteri’s lab investigates how plants regulate stomatal development, including the role of key regulators in pore formation and environmental adaptation. Her work bridges basic research with potential applications in plant resilience. She mentors both undergraduate and graduate students, fostering collaborative research environments. Beyond academia, she enjoys outdoor activities like hiking and skiing, reflecting her appreciation for the Pacific Northwest’s natural landscapes.
