Dr. Lynn Minnaert is a Professor and Head of Subject in Tourism and Languages at the Business School of Edinburgh Napier University. She leads research in international tourism policy, social tourism, family tourism, and the social legacy of major events like the Olympics. Her work is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (UK), EU, International Olympic Committee, and tourism boards globally. She serves on the Editorial Board of Tourism Analysis and co-leads the International Sociological Association’s RC50 Tourism Group. Previously, she held leadership roles in the Travel and Tourism Research Association (TTRA).
Her research emphasizes collaborative stakeholder approaches in social tourism networks and explores barriers to inclusive tourism participation. Key outputs include comparative studies of Flanders’ social tourism systems, longitudinal US family travel surveys, and analyses of inclusion practices in meetings/events. She has authored/co-authored influential textbooks and policy reports, including the 2018 Tourism Management: An Introduction.
Minnaert has secured grants from diverse funders, including the MPI Foundation and regional tourism bodies. She advises on corporate philanthropy strategies linking tourism to social impact. Her affiliations include the Centre for Conservation and Restoration Science at Edinburgh Napier, where she integrates sustainability into tourism research.
