Lynn M Sosnoskie is an Assistant Professor in the School of Integrative Plant Science's Horticulture Section at Cornell AgriTech. Her research focuses on weed ecology and management strategies for specialty crops, including tree and vine crops, fresh vegetables, and processing vegetables. She collaborates with commodity groups, agricultural manufacturers, and the IR-4 Project to develop sustainable weed control solutions.
- B.Sc. in Biology, Lebanon Valley College
- M.Sc. in Plant Pathology, University of Delaware
- Ph.D. in Weed Science, Ohio State University
Dr. Sosnoskie's research addresses herbicide resistance evolution in weeds like Amaranthus palmeri and Erigeron canadensis, while exploring non-chemical alternatives such as cover crops, mulches, and automated weeding technologies. Her work spans diverse agricultural systems including almonds, cotton, tomatoes, and vineyards.
Recent publications highlight her expertise in herbicide tolerance assessment, resistance dynamics, and integrated weed management. Key themes include glyphosate resistance, ALS-inhibitor resistance, and paraquat tolerance in problematic weed species. Her research emphasizes sustainable practices for limited-herbicide specialty crops.
