Lynn Kennedy is a Professor and Chair/Associate Chair in the Department of History and Religion at the University of Lethbridge. She holds a PhD in History from the University of Western Ontario (2004) and has contributed to research on antebellum Southern U.S. social structures.
- Education: BA (Hons) from University of Western Ontario (1993), MA in History from Queen's University (1994), MLIS from University of Western Ontario (1995)
Research Interests examine intersections of domestic relationships and social/political systems in the pre-Civil War South. Key projects include analyzing gossip networks among elite whites, and investigating gendered/racialized labor in household clothing production. Her 2010 book Born Southern: Childbirth, Motherhood & Social Networks in the Old South explores maternal experiences in slaveholding societies.

- 2005 Lerner-Scott Prize (Organization of American Historians) for her dissertation Partus Sequitur Ventrem
Professor Kennedy teaches courses on Slavery & Abolition and Civil Rights Movement History, integrating her expertise in social dynamics and material culture of the American South.
