Lynn Deboeck is an Associate Professor (Clinical) in Theatre and a Lecturer in Gender Studies and the Honors College at the University of Utah. She holds a PhD and MA in Theatre from the University of Kansas (2015, 2011) and a BA in Theatre & Dance from James Madison University (2003). Her research focuses on gender performance, maternal representation in Western theatre, feminist directing, and pedagogical innovations in live performance. She has published extensively in journals like Theatre Journal and Frontiers: A Journal of Women’s Studies, co-edited an anthology on motherhood in contemporary theatre, and directed original plays such as Lynchpin. Her work also explores intimacy direction and consent practices in theatre through her training with Theatrical Intimacy Education (TIE).

She advocates for safe, consensual practices in rehearsal spaces through TIE-certified training.
Her scholarly output includes book chapters on maternal tomboys and post-truth theatre, reflecting her commitment to redefining maternal narratives and gender expression in performance.
