Lynn Comerford

Lynn Comerford is a Professor and Director of Women’s Studies at California State University, East Bay (CSUEB). She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from the State University of New York, Albany, with research focused on social theory, gender, family sociology, and research methods. Her academic career spans roles from Assistant Professor (2001) to current Professor (2012–present), with extensive teaching and leadership in Human Development and Women’s Studies.

Comerford’s research extends into biotechnology ethics and public health policy, particularly critiquing U.S. bioweapons research and global health governance. Her recent work includes analyses of the Biological Weapons Anti-Terrorism Act of 1989 and critiques of pandemic response strategies. She has also engaged in public advocacy through newsletters addressing issues like ivermectin efficacy and corporate media influence.

Her professional service includes directing Women’s Studies at CSUEB since 2009 and advising on biodefense policies. Comerford’s interdisciplinary approach bridges sociology, law, and public health, reflecting her commitment to social justice and critical inquiry.
