Lynette Thompson

Lynette Thompson is an Associate Professor in Psychology at Northeastern University London, affiliated with the Psychology department. She holds a PhD and MA from the University of South Africa, a BA from the University of the Western Cape, and a Post-Graduate Certificate of Education from the University of Cape Town. She is a Chartered Psychologist (CPsychol) with the British Psychological Society and a Senior Fellow with Advance HE.

Her research focuses on decolonisation of psychology curricula, educational psychology (particularly special needs), and the psychological impacts of crises like the COVID-19 pandemic on academics. She has taught courses ranging from foundational psychology to research methods and inclusive education.

Her publications address dyslexia in education, pandemic mental health challenges, and teacher awareness of learning disabilities. Lynette has taught in South Africa, the US, and the UK, reflecting her global academic experience. She is part of Northeastern University London’s global network spanning 13 campuses.
