Mahensingh Deonaran is a PartTime Lecturer in Psychology at Middlesex University, affiliated with the Mauritius Campus under the Middlesex University - Overseas Campuses school. He is a Chartered Psychologist (CPsychol) and Registered Psychotherapist with the British Psychological Society, alongside serving as Head of Counseling Wellbeing Services at Middlesex University. His academic work spans Legal Psychology, Decision Science, and Forensic Science, with a focus on expert forensic evidence and pluralistic counseling.
Deonaran holds a Doctoral PhD candidate status at Middlesex University, investigating English admissibility jurisprudence, court decision-making, and forensic expertise. His educational background includes a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education and Teaching (2017), a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology (2015), and an MSc in Rational Emotive Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (2004). He also has extensive clinical experience in London’s Criminal Justice establishments, including HM Prison Wandsworth and Pentonville prison.
His scientific accolades include:
- Best Professor in Health (2017) from the African Leadership Education Committee
- Chartered Psychologist (CPsychol) and Chartered Scientist (CSci) from the British Psychological Society and UK Science Council (2016)
- Fellow of the Advance Higher Education Academy (FHEA) in 2017
Deonaran has held external roles such as Program Validator for the Higher Education Commission Mauritius and External Examiner at University of Technology Mauritius. He currently co-ordinates the Approaches to Psychological Therapies module and maintains a private practice as a psychotherapist.
