Lyndsey Bengtsson is an Assistant Professor and Programme Leader for the LPC and LLM in Legal Practice at Northumbria University's Department of Law. Her role involves supervising students in the Student Law Office, focusing on employment law advice for the public, and leading the Policy/Law Reform Clinic to influence law reforms. She teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate law programs, including the Employment Law LPC Elective.
Lyndsey holds a PhD (2016) from Northumbria University, with a thesis on age stereotyping in employment tribunals. She also earned an LLM (Distinction, 2005) and LLB (First Class, 2004). Prior to academia, she practiced as a solicitor specializing in employment law, working for Samuel Phillips Law Firm and Northumbria Police Legal Department.
Her research focuses on workplace equality, particularly ageism, dementia, menopause, and clinical legal education. She is a member of the Working with Dementia Network’s management team and the editorial boards for the International Journal of Clinical Legal Education and Journal of Legal Research Methodology. She also serves as Trustee and Treasurer for the Clinical Legal Education Organisation.
Lyndsey has published widely on clinical legal education models, policy clinics, and age discrimination. Her work bridges academic research and practical legal education, emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration and societal impact.
