Lyndon Buck is a Principal Teaching Fellow and Director of Design Education in the School of Engineering at the University of Southampton. He holds multiple professional charters including Chartered Engineer (CEng), Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv), and Chartered Technological Product Designer (CTPD), alongside fellowships from the Institution of Engineering Designers (IED) and the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA). His research focuses on Solar Water Disinfection (SoDis), Education for Sustainable Development, and Design and Technology Education. He actively contributes to the PANIWATER project, addressing clean water challenges in peri-urban India through solar disinfection technologies.
Buck has extensive industry experience as a Product Designer for companies like Royal Mail, SKK Lighting, and Sennheiser. He previously taught at Aston University, Brunel University, and others. He currently supervises 2 PhD students and has 5 completions as primary supervisor. Academic roles include external examiner positions, IED course accreditation roles, and co-editorship of the DATE journal. He has been recognized with IED Medal of Appreciation awards in 2020 and 2013.
