Lynda O’Connor is a violinist and educator affiliated with the Royal Irish Academy of Music (RIAM), where she teaches violin across second and third-level programs. She holds a BA from DIT (studying under Ronald Masin and Michael D’Arcy), an Artist Certificate from Southern Methodist University (Dallas, Texas), and an MMusPerf from RIAM. Her performance career spans solo, orchestral, and chamber music roles, with notable engagements including the Mozart Sinfonie Concertante with Nobuko Imai and Camerata Ireland, and live RTE performances for the Dáil centenary. She is also a principal player with orchestras such as the National Orchestra of Ireland and the Aalborg Symphony Orchestra, having toured internationally including Carnegie Hall and the BBC Proms.
As a chamber musician, O’Connor collaborates with renowned artists like Barry Douglas and members of the Vanburgh Quartet, and leads ensembles like the Ficino Ensemble and Trio Elatha (a traditional Irish crossover group). She is deeply committed to music education, founding a Suzuki violin studio in Wexford and participating in educational outreach programs such as the National Concert Hall ECO Band and Mobile Music Machine.
Her teaching roles include positions at RIAM, DIT, and her own Wexford-based studio for young beginners. Her performances and educational initiatives highlight her versatility across classical and traditional music domains.
