Lyn Blanchfield is a Lecturer in the Department of History at SUNY Oswego's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Her research focuses on medieval and early modern women and gender issues, public religious rituals in Medieval Europe, and public insults in Medieval and early modern Italy.

Her publications explore the intersection of emotional expression and religious practice, such as her 2011 analysis of weeping and sincerity in medieval historiography and her 2008 study of Savonarola's female supporters.
