Lydie Blondiau is an Archaeologist and Research and Development Engineer, serving as a permanent member of HALMA UMR 8164 (University of Lille, CNRS, Ministry of Culture). She is affiliated with INRAP (National Institute for Preventive Archaeological Research) and specializes in protohistoric and Gallo-Roman archaeology. Her work focuses on excavated earth and wood habitats in northern France, particularly examining the evolution and spatial organization of settlements from prehistory through the Roman period in the Amiens region.
Blondiau holds a postgraduate diploma (DEA) in medieval history from the University of Louvain La Neuve (Belgium, 1991) and a Master's degree in art history and archaeology from the same institution (1989). Her field experience includes managing major archaeological operations at sites including Amiens 'ZAC Intercampus,' Méaulte 'ZAC du Coquelicot,' and St. Sauveur, supervising teams of up to 62 personnel.
Her research interests center on protohistoric and Gallo-Roman settlements, funerary landscapes, and spatial organization of habitats across various historical periods. She has conducted extensive work on Bronze Age occupations, La Tène period settlements, and Roman rural habitats, with particular focus on the Somme region in northern France. Her methodological approach combines excavation analysis with spatial organization studies to understand settlement evolution over time.
Blondiau's recent publications demonstrate a consistent focus on settlement patterns and funerary landscapes across different historical periods. Her work shows particular expertise in Bronze Age settlements, La Tène period habitats, and Roman rural contexts, with a regional specialization in northern France (Somme department). The publications reveal a methodological emphasis on comparative analysis of multiple sites and integration of archaeological data with spatial organization principles.
