Luís Lóia

Luís Lóia is an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at the School of Human Sciences (Universidade Católica Portuguesa). He coordinates the BA Program in Philosophy and serves as Editor of the International Journal of Philosophy and Social Values. His academic background includes a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Porto, an M.A. in Political Science, and a B.A. in Philosophy from Católica.

Research interests span political theory, ethics, social-political philosophy, and global governance. He explores themes like democracy crises, political participation, and the interplay between mythology and modern thought. His work bridges classical philosophy with contemporary societal challenges, including digital ethics and AI implications.

Teaching modules include Classical Philosophy, Modern Philosophy, and Ethics in AI. He actively contributes to interdisciplinary programs such as the B-Learning Philosophy and Philosophy, Politics & Economics (PPE) undergraduate programs. His publications reflect diverse topics from religious critique to cultural symbolism, emphasizing philosophical engagement with societal issues.

He is involved in academic initiatives like the Redenção e Escatologia series and collaborates on projects analyzing digital transformation and citizenship education. His editorial and program coordination roles highlight commitment to advancing philosophical discourse and academic innovation.
