Carlos Morujão is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Human Sciences, Universidade Católica Portuguesa, and a researcher at the Research Centre for Theology and Religious Studies (CITER) and the Centre for Philosophical and Humanistic Studies (CEFH). He holds a PhD (2002) and Agregação (2012) from the same institution, specializing in Schelling and the problem of individuation.

His research is centered in phenomenology, particularly the works of Husserl and Alfred Schutz, and the political philosophy of José Ortega y Gasset. He explores themes such as consciousness, embodiment, liberalism, democracy, and the intersections of philosophy with theology and social theory. His recent publications reflect a sustained engagement with phenomenological analysis, political discourse, and the philosophical implications of AI and modern cultural crises.
The trends in his recent articles show a deep integration of classical phenomenology with contemporary issues—ranging from AI consciousness to democratic theory and embodiment. His work bridges continental philosophy with social and theological concerns, often drawing on historical philosophical debates to address modern challenges.

Morujão actively supervises PhD students and participates in major research projects such as COLIVING2020 and studies on German idealism. He has given numerous invited talks on consciousness, phenomenology, and political philosophy, and contributes to editorial and academic boards. He is a central figure in Portugal’s philosophical community, with strong international collaborations.
He is involved in the Centre for Philosophical and Humanistic Studies (CEFH) and the COLIVING2020 project, focusing on intercultural living, public theology, and cultural ecology in pandemic times.
