Dr. Lulu Jiang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neuroscience at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. Her research focuses on the pathophysiology of neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease (AD), Parkinson’s disease (PD), and related dementias.
- Education: MD/PhD from Shandong University and the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences
- Key Research Areas: RNA modifications, neuron-glia interactions, iPSC-induced 3D brain organoid modeling, prion-like protein propagation, and genetic/small molecule therapeutics.
Her work utilizes cutting-edge technologies such as 3D human brain organoids and single-cell transcriptomics to unravel molecular mechanisms in tauopathies. Publications highlight her contributions to understanding tau protein interactions, RNA epitranscriptomics, and neuroimmunological pathways in disease progression.
- Labs & Teams: Lead investigator at the Jiang Lab (University of Virginia), affiliated with the Center for Brain Immunology and Glia (BIG). The lab actively recruits new members for research on neurodegenerative disease modeling and therapeutic development.
