Dr Luli Faber is a Lecturer at the University of Queensland's School of Biomedical Sciences. With a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Bristol, she transitioned from neuroscience research focused on potassium channels in the amygdala and prefrontal cortex to a teaching-focused role since 2021. Her current work in the SBMS Biomedical Education Research Group explores emotion regulation during learning, science communication, and metacognitive skill development.
- Bachelor of Science, University of Edinburgh
- Doctor of Philosophy, University of Bristol
Her research evolved from calcium-activated potassium channels and neuronal plasticity in the amygdala to biomedical education, where she investigates how motivation strategies and emotion regulation can enhance student learning outcomes. Recent work emphasizes transferable skills like critical thinking and cultural capability.
Selected awards include the NARSAD Young Investigator Award, multiple NHMRC grants, and a UQ Early Career Researcher Grant. She currently supervises honours projects on motivation strategies and emotion regulation in first-year students, previously advising PhD research on amygdala interneuron plasticity.
