معرفی
Professor Luke Wilson is a Professor of Semiconductor Physics at the University of Sheffield's School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences. He leads a research team focused on quantum nano-photonic devices with on-chip electrical control, contributing to quantum technology applications. His work has resulted in over 110 publications in top journals and £16.5 million in grants, including £5.6 million as work package leader in an EPSRC Programme Grant (2016-21). Notable achievements include pioneering on-chip electrical control of single-photon nonlinearities and novel single-photon sources.
Research interests center on semiconductor nanostructures, quantum optics, and quantum photonics, with applications in quantum computing and communication. His team collaborates globally and has made breakthroughs in carrier relaxation mechanisms and chiral photonic systems. Teaching includes advanced modules in semiconductor physics, quantum information, and solid-state physics, with leadership in developing a UK-first undergraduate quantum optics laboratory.
Professional roles include Head of Department (since 2022), University Senate member, and external examiner at Surrey University. He has organized major outreach initiatives like the Royal Society Summer Science exhibit and a YouTube channel with over 100,000 views. His work bridges academia and industry, with consultancy for Jaguar Land Rover and Intense Photonics.
