Luke Dimitrios Spieker

Dr. Luke Dimitrios Spieker is a Senior Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law and has been a Postdoctoral Researcher at the DFG-Research Training Group DynamInt, Humboldt University Berlin, since May 2024. His research focuses on Constitutional Law, European Union Law, and the Protection of EU Values, with a particular emphasis on the Interaction between National and Union Law.

He has authored 15 recent articles on topics such as EU Constitutional Law, Judicial Primacy, and Democratic Transitions, with a focus on Poland and Hungary. His work appears in journals like German Law Journal, Common Market Law Review, and European Law Open.

He has served as a Legal Trainee at the Higher Regional Court of Berlin (2021–2023), with placements at the Federal Ministry of Justice, European Commission’s Legal Service, and Redeker Sellner Dahs. He also provides advisory work to NGOs like RECLAIM Democracy and the Hungarian Helsinki Committee.
