Luke Burgis is an Assistant Professor of Practice at The Catholic University of America’s Busch School of Business and serves as Entrepreneur-in-Residence and Director of Programs at the Ciocca Center for Principled Entrepreneurship. He holds a B.S. in Finance and Accounting from NYU’s Stern School of Business (2004) and an S.T.B. in Sacred Theology from the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross (2016). His work bridges philosophy, entrepreneurship, and technology, focusing on mimetic desire theory to explore human behavior and societal dynamics.
Burgis co-founded Fourth Wall Ventures, an incubator emphasizing human ecology, and authored Wanting: The Power of Mimetic Desire in Everyday Life (2021) and Unrepeatable (2018). He writes weekly for WIRED, Psyche, and Substack, exploring topics like cultural polarization, educational reform, and the ethics of AI. His upcoming book The One and the Ninety-Nine (2026) addresses human transformation in the digital age.
Burgis has received accolades including the 2006 “Top 25 Entrepreneur Under 25” (Business Week) and recognition for *Wanting* as a Financial Times Book of the Month and ALEO Reviews Book of the Year (2022). He advises organizations globally and speaks at conferences like NOVITATE, which he co-founded to foster dialogue between philosophy, technology, and religion.
