Lukasz Olejnik is a Visiting Senior Research Fellow at King's College London's Department of War Studies, School of Security Studies. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from INRIA, France, and an LL.M. in Information Technology Law from the University of Edinburgh. His work bridges academia, industry, policy, and law, focusing on cybersecurity, privacy, and technology governance.
He has held roles at CERN, University College London, Princeton University's Center for Information Technology Policy, and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), where he advised on cyberwarfare's humanitarian impacts. He contributed to W3C standards and served on its Technical Architecture Group. His research spans cybersecurity ethics, digital propaganda, cyber conflict strategies, and privacy-preserving technologies.
Key publications include books on Philosophy of Cybersecurity (2023) and Propaganda (2024), plus peer-reviewed articles on topics like DNS tracking evasion, privacy impact assessments, and quantum information retrieval. He has received Best Paper Awards in 2020 and 2017 for work on privacy and security.
Olejnik advises organizations on cybersecurity, privacy, and technology policy. He leads the Cyber Security Research Group (CSRG), promoting interdisciplinary research. Recent events include discussions on AI-driven disinformation and Russian cyber tactics against the EU/UK. His consulting focuses on privacy engineering, regulatory strategy, and technology standardization.
