Lukas Opacic

Dr. Lukas Opacic is a Lecturer at the University of Sydney Law School, teaching Federal Constitutional Law and Public Law. His research critically examines the intersections of public law, political realism, and religion, challenging idealist approaches to legal and political principles through attention to real-world political conditions.

Research emphases include:

• Theological influences on constitutional concepts
• Realpolitik dimensions of legal interpretation
• Contemporary religious liberty debates
• Philosophy of language applications to legal theory

Dr. Opacic previously lectured in Constitutional Law and Jurisprudence at Macquarie University. His PhD research at Sydney Law School was supported by an Australian Postgraduate Award and the Reca Stone Scholarship in Legal Theory. He has presented research internationally, including at the ICLRS Young Scholars Fellowship at Oxford University.
