Lukas Bornschein is a doctoral student at the Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology in Halle (Saale), affiliated with the Department of Law & Social Anthropology. He is also enrolled at the International Max Planck Research School Global Multiplicity. His work focuses on interdisciplinary approaches to judicial communication, integrating legal studies, political theory, and anthropology to examine how courts interact with the public and build trust in democratic societies.
Research Interests: Legal anthropology, EU law, human rights, and constitutional law. His current research explores judicial communication strategies in European courts, particularly lower courts in Germany, analyzing how these mechanisms shape public perception and legitimacy of the judiciary.
