Julia Kühl

Julia Kühl is a doctoral student at the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology, Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, funded by the State of Saxony-Anhalt from 2021 to 2024. Her research explores sustainable mobility futures in Central Germany through regional policy analysis.

• Education: Studied Social and Cultural Anthropology at University of Leipzig (2012–2019), including a semester at Stellenbosch University (South Africa). Conducted refugee-focused research at Max Planck Institute for Social and Cultural Anthropology.
• Research Focus: Political economy, political ecology, green transitions, and post-socialist transformations. Current work interrogates equity in sustainable transport policies.
• Previous Research: Master's thesis on intersectional belonging in a Somali association in Frankfurt am Main; earlier work on Somali refugee experiences in Germany.
• Affiliation: Associated with the SLEG Lab (Young Researchers Network).
