Luis Sahagun

Luis Sahagun is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Drawing and Sculpture in the Art Department at Davidson College. He is an interdisciplinary artist, scholar, and educator whose work bridges Mexican-Indigenous heritage, personal narrative, and contemporary art practices.

Sahagun's expertise lies in Drawing/Sculpture and Painting/Performance, informed by his diverse identities as a former undocumented construction worker, product designer, and comic book movie enthusiast. His art practice explores intersections of cultural memory, identity, and social justice.

Exhibitions and Recognition include showcases at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, Latchkey Gallery NYC, Charlie James Gallery, and The National Museum of Mexican Art. His work has been reviewed in Artforum, the Los Angeles Times, and the Chicago Tribune, with media features on MundoFOX, NBC, Univision, and WBEZ-NPR.
