Luigi Laveglia

Luigi Laveglia is a Lecturer at the Institute of Classical and Church Music, part of the Lucerne School of Music (HSLU). He teaches Music Theory in the Pre College program and contributes to instrumental pedagogy education in the cantons of Lucerne and Zug. His roles also include leading the course 'Maker spaces Musiktheorie' in the DAS Instrumental- and Vokalpädagogik postgraduate program.

Education: Luigi studied piano in Lucerne, followed by composition and music theory at the Basel Music Academy under Detlev Müller-Siemens and Roland Moser. His artistic work spans composition projects in Europe and the USA, including the opera encantadas (2002) and collaborations with ensembles like Glass Farm Ensemble New York and Festival Strings Lucerne.

Research: His work focuses on music pedagogy and educator well-being, exemplified by a 2012 study on instrumental teachers' work situations in Lucerne. Collaborations include composing for the Lucerne Festival’s 'Sinfonie für Luzern' project and educational outreach with the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra’s 'Horizont' initiatives.

Awards: Recipient of prestigious grants including UBS Composition Fellowship and Kanton Luzern contributions. His compositions, such as the piano trio reversed echoes (2010), reflect interdisciplinary creativity with multimedia projects like Verhüllt (2020).
