Professor Luigi De Luca is Professor of Marketing and Innovation at Cardiff Business School, Cardiff University, where he has been employed since 2009. He served as the School's Pro-Dean for Doctoral Studies from 2018 to 2023 and, as of January 1, 2025, is co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Product Innovation Management. His academic career progression includes positions as Reader in Marketing (2011-2015) and Senior Lecturer (2009-2011).
Dr. De Luca earned his PhD from Bocconi University, establishing his foundation in marketing and innovation research. His scholarly trajectory demonstrates a clear evolution from traditional marketing topics toward the increasingly critical domain of digital transformation and public value creation.
Professor De Luca's research focuses on the strategic and organizational dimensions of digital transformation, with particular attention to how digital technologies intersect with innovation processes and create public value. His recent publications explore big data adoption, digital inclusion challenges, and organizational capabilities needed for successful digital transformation. His work combines theoretical rigor with practical implications for organizations navigating the digital age, spanning diverse sectors from energy to public services.

Professor De Luca actively supervises PhD students on topics related to Big Data and AI in organizational decision-making and various innovation domains. He serves on editorial boards of Journal of Product Innovation Management, Industrial Marketing Management, and Journal of Strategic Marketing. Beyond academia, he contributes to the community as a Board Member of the Product Development and Management Association, Trustee for Gympanzees charity, and Vice-Chair of Governors at St Peter's RC Primary School, demonstrating his commitment to applying academic knowledge to real-world challenges.
