Luigi Caranti, Professor of Political Philosophy at the University of Catania, Italy, is a leading scholar in Kantian ethics and its applications to contemporary political theory. In 2023–2024, he is engaged in a DAAD guest lectureship in collaboration with Prof. Rainer Forst through ConTrust, spanning the winter semester 2023/24 and summer semester 2024.
With a Ph.D. from Boston University, Caranti has held visiting roles at Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs and Philipps-Universität Marburg. His research focuses on Kant’s political philosophy, emphasizing human rights, democratic peace theory, and distributive justice, supported by EU-funded projects such as three Marie Curie Individual Grants and a Marie Curie RISE fellowship coordinating over forty Kant scholars across Europe and South America.
