Ludovico Valli

Ludovico Valli is a Full Professor of Physical Chemistry (SSD CHIM/02) at the Faculty of Cultural Heritage, University of Salento. His research spans interdisciplinary areas including surface chemistry, materials science, and biotechnology, with a focus on thin film immobilization and photoinduced phenomena.

His research interests center on the physical chemistry of surfaces and interfaces, spectroscopic characterization of (bio)materials, and applications in charge transfer, photorelease of gases for biotechnology, and biosensor development. He has authored over 160 publications and contributed to international conferences as speaker and organizer.

Teaching includes courses like Physical Chemistry for Cultural Heritage, Degradation and Conservation of Materials, and laboratory classes. He has supervised more than 140 graduate theses across Science, Engineering, and Cultural Heritage faculties.

Collaborations include research groups at Max-Planck-Institut Göttingen, University of Durham, Clarkson University, and others in Italy, Germany, Spain, Australia, and China. He serves as referee for journals such as J. Am. Chem. Soc. and Angew. Chemie, and co-organized ECOF European Conferences.
