Dr. Ludovic F. Dumée is an Assistant Professor and materials engineer at Khalifa University in Abu Dhabi, UAE. He leads the 'Decarbonization' Theme within the Research and Innovation Center on 2D Nanomaterials (RIC2D) and directs the Atmospheric Water Generation Platform. His research focuses on advanced separation materials, responsive membranes, and 2D nanomaterials for water treatment, gas management, and healthcare applications. Previously, he led a team at Deakin University’s Institute for Frontier Materials for over six years, pioneering carbon allotrope and ceramic nano-coating technologies to enhance material reactivity and sustainability.
His current work addresses decarbonization in the water sector, particularly desalination, by developing low-energy, low-emission solutions. He advocates for circular water economies through innovations in resource recovery, smart water management, and renewable energy integration. Dumée emphasizes 2D nanomaterials as critical enablers for sustainable water and energy systems.
Notable contributions include adaptive separation materials for micro-pollutant removal and adaptive resource recovery strategies. His interdisciplinary approach bridges nanotechnology, environmental engineering, and materials science to tackle global water and climate challenges.
