She is concluding her PhD studies under Prof Bhaskar Vira and Dr Shaun Larcom, expected to graduate in 2024. Her research focuses on sustainable development conflicts and large dam impacts, employing interdisciplinary methods combining political ecology, econometrics, and qualitative stakeholder analysis. Goodman holds a BA in Biological Sciences from the University of Oxford and an MSc in Applied Ecology and Conservation (Distinction) from the University of East Anglia, supported by a NERC scholarship.
Her career includes roles as Programme Manager at Earthwatch, Consultant at the Global Canopy Programme, and Technical Manager at Envirotrad. She has conducted fieldwork across multiple countries, including a transcontinental expedition through Central Asia and a cycling journey from Norway to Turkey. She teaches undergraduate courses in Political Ecology, Development Theories, and Regional Economics at Cambridge.
Her work bridges academia and practice, with publications on REDD+ safeguards, dam debates, and satellite-based carbon monitoring. She actively engages in policy dialogues at UNFCCC and CBD conferences. Goodman also shares insights on navigating PhD studies while parenting, offering mentorship to researchers balancing academic and family life.
