معرفی
Dr. Lucy Jones is a Lecturer in Geography and Environmental Geography at York St John University, part of the School of Humanities. Her research focuses on innovative environmental monitoring techniques using remote sensing and GIS technologies, particularly terrestrial laser scanning for forest phenology and floodplain analysis. She holds a PhD from the University of Salford (funded by NERC) and has prior experience in ecological consultancy and academic research roles.
Education:
- BSc Geography, University of Leicester
- MSc GIS, Sheffield Hallam University
- PhD in Remote Sensing, University of Salford
Teaching: Leads modules in Ecosystems & Biogeography, Nature Conservation, Environmental Change, and Applied GIS. Also contributes to courses on Mapping, Research Methods, and Professional Practice. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and coordinates Level 1 Geography programs.
Research Trends: Recent work emphasizes spatial analysis of floodplain dynamics, dual-wavelength TLS applications in forest ecology, and algorithm development for environmental modeling. Her publications span Catena, Interface Focus, and Remote Sensing Letters, with conference presentations at Royal Society and Silvilaser events.
Grants & Projects:
- NERC-funded PhD on forest phenology with SALCA scanner
- Co-op Insurance-funded river flood analysis project
Professional Roles: Postgraduate Research Supervisor and member of academic teams advancing geospatial technologies in environmental science.
