Lucy Dean is a Lecturer in History at the University of the Highlands and Islands' Centre for History. Her research bridges medieval and early modern periods, focusing on Scottish royal rituals, masculinity in monarchy, and public engagement with history. She holds a PhD from the University of Stirling (2013) and has held roles including Researcher at Historic Environment Scotland (2016–2017). Her work explores coronations, funerals, and weddings as political tools, alongside studies of Stewart kings' coming-of-age narratives. She collaborates on initiatives like the Perth Charterhouse Project, blending academic research with community outreach. Dean's articles and books examine themes such as royal ceremony adaptation, gender in monarchy, and sartorial symbolism, contributing to interdisciplinary dialogue on Scottish history.

Projects & Activities: Co-Investigator on the 'Viewing the Past from the Digital Future' project (Perth Charterhouse). Organized workshops on archival research and public history. Active in conferences discussing early modern Scottish studies and royal honours symbolism.
