Lucrecia Paz Burges Cruz

Dr. Lucrecia Paz Burges Cruz is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Philosophy and Social Work at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), where she has been teaching since 1997. She holds three recognized research periods (sexenios) from the CNEAI and directs the Human Systematics Laboratory (LSH). Her roles include serving as President of the UIB's Committee on Coexistence and as Rector's Delegate for the Social Table of the Balearic Islands' Sustainability Pact.

Her research focuses on Practical Philosophy, Moral Philosophy, Evolutionary Epistemology, and Gender Studies, with emphasis on altruism’s origins and gender dynamics. She has conducted nine research stays at the University of California, Irvine (2001–2024) and leads the project 'Biological Reproduction, Social Reproduction, and Public Sphere' (REPRODUCE, PID2020-115079RB-I00). She has contributed to 13 funded R+D+i projects and is a member of the PRAXIS Research Group.

Teaching: She teaches courses in Anthropology, Gender and Society, Ethics, and Human Cognition across undergraduate and master's programs, including the Open University initiatives. Recent courses include 'Current Developments in Ethical Theory' and 'Gender Roles in Contemporary Societies.'

Labs/Teams: Directs the Human Systematics Laboratory (LSH) and participates in pedagogical innovation and knowledge transfer initiatives.
