Lucie Salamor is an ATER (temporary teaching and research position) in ancient history at the University of Lille, Faculty of Humanities, History Department. Currently in her 5th year of doctoral studies, she works on gender history and network history in the Roman world, with a specific focus on women's power dynamics from the 1st century BC to the 5th century AD.
Her academic background includes a Master 2 in Ancient Worlds from ENS de Lyon (2020), where she completed her thesis on "Women in White: Visibilities and Powers of Feminae Lugentes in the Roman World." She holds the History Aggregation (rank 29/72) and CAPES in History and Geography.
Dr. Salamor's research centers on reconstructing women's networks in the Roman Empire, analyzing gender dynamics through network theory, and studying representations of women in literary sources. Her work intersects with the Ama-Mater research project, which examines ancient motherhoods from multiple disciplinary perspectives, connecting Near Eastern and Greco-Roman antiquity to modern receptions. She employs digital humanities tools to model historical networks, creating innovative approaches to understanding female agency in antiquity.
Her extensive publication record shows a clear thematic trajectory focused on women's networks, gender roles, and motherhood in the Roman world. The publications demonstrate increasing methodological sophistication, moving from textual analysis of historical sources to interdisciplinary approaches combining network theory, gender studies, and digital humanities. Recent work shows particular interest in the reception of ancient maternal figures across historical periods.
