Professor Frederique Blaizot is a faculty member at the University of Lille, specifically within the Faculty of Humanities, Department of Art History and Archaeology. She serves as Professor of Roman and Roman Gaul Archaeology and is a member of the UMR 8164 – HALMA research unit (History, Archaeology, Literature of the Ancient Worlds), which is a joint research unit involving the University of Lille, CNRS, and MC.
Her research focuses on the Archaeology of Roman Gaul and archaeothanatology (the study of ancient burial practices and funerary archaeology). As a specialist in the archaeology of ancient and medieval worlds, her work contributes significantly to understanding cultural practices, social structures, and historical developments in these periods.
Professor Blaizot holds several important academic responsibilities: she is Head of the Archaeology Professions course for the Research Master's program with Ancient Worlds specialization (since 2022), Responsible for Master 1 and 2 internships in the same program (since 2021), and Head of the DU (Diplôme d'Université) in archaeothanatology. Her position is classified under CNU Section 21 - History, Civilization, Archaeology and Art of the Ancient and Medieval Worlds.
