Lucie Robert is a Professor of Violin at the Manhattan School of Music since 1988 and concurrently serves on the violin faculty at Mannes College of Music. A native of Montreal and protégé of Josef Gingold, she is renowned for her expressive lyricism and tonal beauty, praised by The New York Times for her "melting tone" and "wonderfully supple approach to phrasing."
Her artistic and pedagogical focus centers on Violin Performance, Chamber Music, and Classical Music Pedagogy. She has conducted master classes at premier institutions globally including Seoul National University, Beijing Central Conservatory, Franz Liszt Academy, and Oberlin Conservatory, while serving on juries for major competitions such as Montreal, Fritz Kreisler, and Jean Sibelius.
Ms. Robert's distinguished accolades include:
- President’s Medal for Distinguished Service (Manhattan School of Music's highest honor, 2023)
- Prize winner at the First Joseph Joachim International Violin Competition
As an educator, she has mentored generations through her faculty roles and international master classes. Her performance career spans over thirty violin concertos with major orchestras, chamber collaborations with legends like Menahem Pressler and Richard Goode, and regular appearances at festivals including Bowdoin, Meadowmount, and the Josef Gingold Chamber Music Festival.
