Lucie Guibault is a Professor of Law and (Acting) Associate Director of the Law & Technology Institute at Dalhousie University's Schulich School of Law. She holds a PhD from the University of Amsterdam, an LLM and LLB from Université de Montréal, and has expertise in Intellectual Property Law, Copyright, Patent Law, and related fields such as contract law and consumer protection. Her research emphasizes the intersection of law with technological and socio-economic changes, advocating for balanced IP frameworks that support innovation and access to knowledge. She has received numerous awards, including the 2015 LIBER Innovation Award for work on data mining and copyright. Guibault is actively involved in international legal projects, including contributions to EU copyright directives and the FutureTDM initiative. She teaches courses on Intellectual Property Law and advises on policy reforms for AI, open access, and digital rights.
