Lucian Rodriguez Lovell is an Associate Lecturer (Industry Fellow) for the RMIT Game Design Program, Principal Designer at RMIT's Centre of Digital Ecosystems (CODE), and a PhD candidate in the School of Media and Communication. Based at RMIT's City Campus in Australia, his work focuses on critical creative practice intersecting mixed-reality technologies, game design, and cultural preservation.
His research explores hybrid realities, sensor technologies, embodied interactions, generative AI, and digital cultures through practice-based methodologies. Key projects include leading a Games4Change initiative to reshape Aotearoa's plastics ecosystem, co-creating the art-game 'The Dark Forest' for ISEA 2024, and developing AR experiences preserving Vietnam's intangible cultural heritage exhibited at the Festival of Creativity and Design.
Teaching interests center on critical game design practices, including courses on 2D/3D game development, Unreal Engine, photogrammetry, and AI integration in creative workflows.
